- Any Lake Metroparks property not listed on the official page.
- Any surface outside lawn, turf, or sand.
- Areas in use for conflicting programs, special uses, or festivals.

Permit instructions
Apply through the official permit route linked by Lake Metroparks; carry the permit whenever detecting.
- Restore all ground disturbances.
Seasonal and hour restrictions
- Permit use is valid only during park open hours.
Found property and reportable objects
Items valued over $10 must be reported within three business days to the Ranger Department. Recovered materials may be retained by Lake Metroparks. A Significant Item Collection Report is due within ten days after permit expiration, and the prior report is required before a new permit can be issued.
